Dear LDI Family,

I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself as I will be joining LDI for the next year!  Originally from Portland, Oregon, I moved to Boston last year to take part in Life Together, a fellowship program of the Episcopal Diocese.  One of my favorite things to do in life is travel but I had never before been to Boston.  Being here has taught me a lot; despite learning that it gets extremely cold in the winter and that the city doesn't close down with two inches of snow, last year taught me how to seek God earnestly through serving diligently in the work I do, regardless of whether or not it's in a church.

As part of the Life Together program, we all work for local churches and non-profits, receive training around community organizing and leadership development, as well as we are all are provided with services to help nurture our spiritual growth and discern vocational calling.  It was through Life Together that I was first introduced to LDI when they came on as guest trainers.

Fast forward a few months and I was soon taking part in BPEACE, an LDI team/campaign birthed out of the death of Jorge Fuentes and focused on gun violence.  As I now am in the beginning of my second year with Life Together, taking on more responsibility, I am thrilled to be on LDI staff, serving part-time as a Program Associate.

It's because of the interactions I've had with BPEACE, MANNA, and ACT, all LDI teams, that I am all the more thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with LDI on a more regular basis.  LDI is doing something great here. People are coming together, outlining their ideas, creating shared purposes, forming teams that work both efficiently and effectively, all while gaining the tools and confidence needed to make change.

In the coming months, I look forward to meeting you all as I am eager to hear not only what has been going on with teams since our last interaction, but also what ideas/ causes are going to be tackled by new teams this year. Until then, may you all continue to be blessed and inspired by the work you do and people you meet.

Warmly,

Ruth
